After completing an internship at Northside Hospital & Tampa Bay Heart Institute, Dr. Tubbs completed his Anesthesiology residency in Southern California. Prior to medical school, Dr. Tubbs obtained his Bachelors of Science from the University of Alabama-Birmingham Surgical-Physician Assistant program. He worked for years as a PA in the specialties of Emergency Medicine and Cardiovascular Surgery before enrolling into medical school.

Dr. Tubbs exclusively practices pain management with 20 years of procedural and surgical experience, and with a focus on interventional techniques, including, epidural and facet injections, radio-frequency ablation, spinal cord stimulators, kyphoplasty, Vertiflex spinal stenosis decompression, and Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System. Dr. Ricky Tubbs, is also Board Certified in Functional and Regenerative Medicine and specializes in ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopic-guided injections for every major joint including the spine.

Dr. Ricky Tubbs is in his mid-sixties and also practices Functional and Naturopathic Medicine and has been studying Sports Nutrition for over 40 years as an elite competitive athlete. He is a Black Belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Judo. He is a 4x World Champion and 5x Pan American Champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and an international U.S. Open Judo Champion who has helped many patients and athletes across the country "Fight Disease" and sometimes cure themselves of chronic disease using his evidence based Sports Nutrition, Exercise, and Stress Management Prescriptions.

"My family, like many, are cursed with genetic predispositions of addictionobesitydiabetes, and premature death due to cardiovascular disease. I am blessed with the knowledge, and the know how, to help patients decrease their chances of developing chronic disease and in some situations, cure their chronic disease. At 64, I am still an elite international martial arts competitor, with NO chronic health problems, and on NO synthetic medications. I share this with all my patients to demonstrate and to incentivize them that this is possible. The Greek meaning of Doctor is 'Teacher', and of Physician, 'Naturalist'. I teach them and lead them by example. I define a Doctor (Teacher)/Physician (Naturalist) as one who teaches their patients on how to improve their quality of life through Functional and Naturopathic Medicine and to relieve their suffering with both ancient and modern methods."  Dr. Ricky Tubbs.
